"For a Curious Alice, and Her Mad Hatter"

Yes, as you could read from Tally's blog, I also have seen Alice in Wonderland. Oh, it is definitly my type of movie. There is absolute fantasy, true danger, wonderful wit, and... romance (with a dance)!

POSSIBLE SPOILERS

The acting I thought was superb with everyone, aside from the slightly awkward Anne Hathaway, who was okay. Alice (Mia Wasikowska) could've shown a little bit more emotion, even as she was leaving Wonderland, and her true soulmate (who whispered in her ear "Fairfarren, Alice"). Trust me. THEY ARE MEANT TO BE TOGETHER.

Must I point out several things on who, and why? Okay then. Here goes. I must point out, this blog post is more of a relationship analysis, not movie analysis.

Alice Kingsleigh and Tarrant Hightopp are the people I am discussing (oh is it really that obvious that he's the Mad Hatter?).

For starters, they are both described as "mad" - but in a good way. They have similar personalities. While the man Alice was supposed to marry told Alice to "keep her fantasies to herself", the Mad Hatter likes her the way she is. Their personalities compliment each other, and the back drop of Wonderland definitly suits them. Alice didn't look at the Hatter and see a horrifying crazy (in a bad way) person. She saw him as a good friend.

Second, they have both saved each others' lives. This shows they would do anything for each other, even die for each other, as was shown in the movie (the Mad Hatter was almost executed). They both fought side by side against the Red Queen. Whenever Tarrant would go off on his ramblings, Alice would pull him back to the real world (his real world) by calling his name.

The end was very touching. I was waiting, just waiting for him to kiss her on the cheek. But no! He just whispered in her ear, "Fairfarren, Alice."

What. WHAT? They didn't even hug? What the what? WHAT THE WHAT? Well, at least she said she would be back.

I heard in the original script, it had them kiss! Hopefully that would be in the deleted scenes.

One more thing...

Here is a poem that someone posted on an IMDb board for the Alice in Wonderland movie. It is so beautiful!

"Hysteria's Sanity, Curiosity's Apathy

You could say that when opposites attract,
It could create one of a surreal impact.
Under a world, breathing in a reverie,
Where two antithesis souls could long to be.

She plummeted to the depths of her mind,
And emerged into the land of dreamlike wonder,
Every step she took she left the world she knew behind,
And advanced along in the world deep down under.

His eyes observed the prochecy living,
And with glowing joy he couldn't retain,
He hoped for the one that life could only bring,
That everyone else thought was insane.

Knowing she grew and shrunk every so often,
It was impossible for them to become parallel,
When around her, his emotions will soften,
Escaping him from the depths of his hell.

Companions they were, and could always remain,
Not even shackles and cells could seperate the two,
They would not let go, even in a time of bane,
An unbreakable bond that will always stay true.

A harlequin eyed guardian staying at her side,
Even though she believed it all just a dream,
A broken heart there, he forced to hide,
She remarked it as one, another surreal theme.

When red and white collided at that day,
He would protect the only one he cherished,
She peered upon the creature she was to slay,
If it weren't for him, she was sure to have perished.

After a dance of unbridled joy,
Her fate was finally decided,
But to see her go, he could not enjoy,
What life had no longer provided.

Once emerald met sapphire,
His heart was finally clear,
A needing of a devoting desire,
As he whispered in her ear.

'Fairfarren,' my dear, and he stepped away,
As she drank down the vial, she could no longer stay.
As the world suddenly disappeared, there she met his eyes,
With their loving gaze, and smile, they made their last goodbyes.

She emerged back home, in the world of her own,
And left behind the only one dear to her.
But their feelings together, they had finally shown,
Two unlikely souls, together, as it were.

He'll remain waiting, awaiting for her return,
To lay his eyes on her once again,
Though it was unfortunate for them to take a turn,
For then, he'll forever remain insane...

You could say that when opposites attract, It could create one of a surreal impact.
It'll only occur for one that will matter.
Although distant from one another, it doesn't disconnect from the other,
For a curious Alice, and her Mad Hatter. "

That was written by razz4499 of IMDb. That is the best summary of their relationship.

Well, I'm signing off. I need to finish 2012 anyways... ;)
